Meet Josef Severson

I am a resident of Rogers, a husband, a father of two boys, and a Sr. Director at Foss Swim School.

Learn more about me below. I am eager to hear your perspective on our city’s needs. Would you be open to meeting me for coffee?

Community-Focused Business Leader

As a business leader at Foss Swim School, I work to provide people with a lifetime of confidence and safety around water. Learning to swim empowers people to lead healthier and more active lives. My role on the management leadership team has been instrumental in growing Foss Swim School from 14 locations to 29 by the end of the year. This experience has honed my skills in leadership, planning, financial management, and strategic growth—all of which I am eager to bring to the Rogers City Council.

I am particularly proud of my team’s efforts to launch and rapidly grow a scholarship program, which has given thousands of students the opportunity to learn how to swim in 2023-24. By partnering with organizations such as USA Swimming, Step-Into-Swim, Outdoor Afro, and Olympian Regan Smith, we have expanded our impact and strengthened community ties. These collaborative initiatives demonstrate my commitment to community service and my ability to build partnerships that benefit the public.

Engaged Father and Husband

As a husband and father of two young boys, I bring a personal perspective to my candidacy for the Rogers City Council. As our community continues to welcome young families just like mine, the Council needs to reflect the needs and challenges of new families in our community.

Being a father of my two spirited young kids equips me with the knowledge to advocate for policies that support family-friendly initiatives, improve educational opportunities, and create a safe environment for all children.

My candidacy is about bringing the heart of a father and the dedication of a husband to serve the people of Rogers.

Friend of Animals and All

For the last ten years, my wife Clara and I have been fostering dogs through No Dog Left Behind dog rescue based in Maple Grove. Our friends will tell you that we often have a foster dog or two at our home waiting to be adopted, and it has been this way for years.

Anyone who has welcomed a new dog into their home knows that it takes patience, consistency, and problem-solving skills. By fostering dogs, we have also built strong connections within the community, collaborating with volunteers and organizations to achieve common goals.

More than anything, volunteering with No Dog Left Behind all these years has demonstrated my family’s compassion to our community, a value I will extend to my role in public service.

I am eager to hear your perspective on our city’s needs.
